报告摘要:

Deformation and microstructural evolution are two coupled processes in the dynamics of Earth materials. Deformation alters microstructure, and in return microstructure affects the mechanical response to deformation. In microstructure, two aspects are frequently investigated: grain size and crystallographic preferred orientation (CPO). Water ice makes glaciers and ice sheets on Earth, polar ice caps on Mars, and the surface and subsurface layer on icy satellites and dwarf planets. The flow of ice is important for the dynamics of glaciers and ice sheets on Earth, ice caps on Mars and ice shells on Ceres and Europa. In this presentation, the speaker focuses on the recent studies of microstructural evolution and deformation in ice. (1) What is the creep mechanism for glacial flow on Earth? Does grain size play a role in it? (2) What is the creep mechanism for ice + rock particle mixture? What is the implication for Mars? (3) A transition in the patterns of the crystallographic preferred orientation (CPO) was found in laboratory experiments performed under different conditions. What is the cause of the transition? What affects the transition?

报告人简介:

2008年在北京大学获得学士学位,2014年在明尼苏达大学获得博士学位。先后在宾夕法尼亚大学和明尼苏达大学做博士后工作,2018年在中科院地质与地球物理所任副研究员。冰物理实验室负责人,国家级人才引进计划入选者。主要方向为实验岩石物理学和行星固体物理学。从事橄榄石和水冰的变形实验,研究地球与行星内部物质运动。主要关注水冰微结构与塑性变形之间的相互作用、地球与行星自然条件下水冰的流变学性质、半熔融岩石/冰的流变学性质和微结构演化等问题。曾在NaturePNASEPSLGRLJGR等多个国际高水平期刊上发表论文十余篇。
